For Mother’s Day
[Deathstroke the Terminator: The Hunted #45]
It was unfortunately hard to find a sentimental moment between Rose and her mother Lili, given how the plot of this comic (where Lili and Rose were initially and specifically highlighted) was driven more by loss than it was the development of on-page emotional development. “The Hunted” was all about how a predator could become the prey, and Wolfman demonstrated the consequences of this reversal at the expense of Lili and Rose Worth. Nevertheless, his showing A) how distraught Lili was at Rose’s kidnapping and B) Rose’s grief and anger at losing her mother was incredibly telling and more importantly…. moving.
For indeed, I will always argue that the loss of her mother was the most significant turning point in Rose Wilson’s life, despite all the Daddy issues that arose later on in continuity, and that this loss of Lili was the emotional trigger that set Rose on the path she chose to take. Hone in on the italics of “chose,” because I don’t mean that statement of motive direly, by any means, and I don’t mean it exclusively, either. That said, there’s no way Rose’s volatile temperament, no matter how influenced, is a direct result of this loss, for example; that would be utterly naive to assume.
But Rose loved her mother so very much, and she grew up not only relying on her, but trusting her beyond all reason. To that end, Lili (as evidenced above) made raising Rose her number one priority, no matter her past, her reputation, or her profession.
So here’s to Mother’s Day… and to a wonderful mother who loved her daughter above all else.

If these two teamed up I imagine it would be a competition who could say the more ridiculous thing during battle. And that’s what they’re doing here… they’re backed up against a wall about to fight a whole army of badguys, not a a dance club ;)

So, I’m finally out of school for summer… That means a lot of things!
First of all, to all the new followers, thank you and please do know how much I’ve appreciated your support! It means so much to me, and I love getting to know fellow Rose lovers! <3 Please contact the blog and/or my personal blog if you’d ever like to talk; I don’t mean that superficially by any means.
It also means that I’m going to publish my first new “Rose Essay” in what’s been months… school essays have obviously gotten in my way ‘til now.
My due date is…. let’s say….. Tuesday night.
